Financial professional Sebastian Palazio most recently handled loan acquisitions for a capital firm in New York City. Alongside his professional endeavors, Sebastian Palazio supports education in Nicaragua through Empowerment International. A nonprofit, Empowerment International maintains a number of programs to help Nicaraguan children from low-income backgrounds receive an education. These include the home visits program.

In some historically underserved parts of Nicaragua, it is common for adults to have only a third grade education. As a result, adults do not always appreciate the benefits of an education and sometimes encourage their children to leave school and work to support the family. Through the home visits programs, Empowerment International meets with such parents, helping them to understand how valuable a good education can be for their children.

In the home visits program, each participating student is paired with an Empowerment International staff member. Staff members visit homes regularly, building relationships with students and their parents. Acting as ambassadors for education, they help parents learn to support their children in school.
